Waterfall

(C. Chappell)

I am walking down the river, river
Lookin for a way to be delivered
I can hear the water falling falling
And the echo of you calling me to the
Waterfall,  hey yeah to the waterfall, we go runnin
To the water fall ,   hey yeah , to the waterfall

When I was a girl and you my lover
Oh the mystery that we discovered
We would steal away and we’d go under
Oh the magic and the wonder of the
Waterfall,  hey yeah to the waterfall, we go runnin
To the water fall ,   hey , to the waterfall

Take your worries and just wash, wash em away
Ain’t no worries, they just fade away

Take your worries and just wash, wash em away
Ain’t no worries, they just fade away

Now I am standin by this falling river
Ain’t no better way to be delivered
Do you wanna come and feel the power
Under Mother Nature’s shower, oh I’m runnin' to the
Waterfall, we go runnin' to the waterfall, hey yeah to the waterfall

All Right All Good

(K. Thompson)

Here we are at the crossroads again - it’s all right it’s all           good
Every time we meet here - seems like it’s the end -it’s all right its all good
We trust each other so we don’t let go - it’s all right its all good
Ain’t no lookin’ back we keep walking down the road -it’s all right it’s all good
it’s all right its all good it’s all ——— good

Summertime and the sun won’t shine - it’s all right it’s all good
Night falls down and the crickets cry - it’s all right it’s all good
Sitting down by the fireside - it’s all right it’s all good
it’s all right it’s all ————— good

So here we are in the twilight -it’s all right its all good
Can’t believe we finally made it - it’s all right it’s all good
All is fine we can hardly complain - it’s all right it’ s all good
When we die we’ll have nothing left to gain -  it’s gonna be
all right  - all good
it’s all right its all ——— good

Roll With It

(C. Chappell)

I was talking on the phone with our bass player, JP Coley, discussing gigs and scheduling.  He made the comment,  “Well you know you gotta roll with it when it rolls and slide with it when it slides….”   He went on to say a few more things, and then I asked, “That thing you said before about roll with it, slide with it, Is that a saying or did you just say it spontaneously?”  He answered, “I guess I just said it”.  And I said, “Well I am  going to have to write a song on that”.  So here’s what came:

I see you standing on the corner.  Lookin up and down the street.
Trying to figure if you ought to,  just stay put or move your feet
You been seeing signs around you, hear em singing in the wind
Maybe the answers they have found you , let em in, oh sometimes

You just gotta roll with it when it rolls,
uh huh and slide with it when it slides
Come on and take hold, let go control,  ooo ooo ooo

Well I was talking with an angel,  laid my troubles on the line
She said, “ just throw your worries out the window, you’ll be fine, just fine
I told her what about the future, saw a twinkling in her eye, she said,
“Just let your life be your teacher, remember sometimes, oh sometimes"

You just gotta roll with it when it rolls,
uh huh and slide with it when it slides
Come on and take hold, let go control,  ooo ooo ooo

Well I was hangin with my brothers,  jamming like a radio
Makin' music for the lovers,  and the get-down dancers, well they sure know
It’s ok to make a fool of what you think you’re supposed to do (uh huh)
Maybe this world is just a school of learning how , oh, to just do you      uh huh and

Roll with it when it rolls,
uh huh and slide with it when it slides
Come on and take hold, let go control,  ooo ooo ooo
Hey you gotta roll with it when it rolls,
uh huh and slide with it when it slides
Come on and take hold, let go control,  ooo ooo ooo

Come on and slide with it
mm hmm roll ah yeah

When You Came Over

(C. Chappell)

This song is about immigrants; from our ancestors to now.  It’s a series of questions for anyone who ever came over or attempted to come over.   Sometimes these were heartbreaking experiences, and sometimes wonderful, life-altering ones.  When I visited Ellis Island a few years ago, I was amazed to hear that a whole ship full of people looking to build a new life in America, would sail all the way across the ocean, pull up to Ellis Island, only to be told that we had enough people from their country and that they needed to turn around and go back home.  Watching what has been happening at our borders in the past several years, and all the controversy and pain over that,  I focused on the experience of the people trying to get here,  and asked them questions too:

When you came over, did you come in a boat ?
Did you cross a desert, did you cross a moat ?
Did you cross your heart, when you came lookin for your own ?
Were you told to turn around and go back home ?
When you came over

When you came over, did it feel just right?
Did you eat your supper,  by a fire light ?
Were there shining faces with inalienable rights ?
Were the doors flung open to your brand new life ?
When you came over

You’re so strong    You left all you’ve ever known
You’re so strong    You belong

When you came over were you runnin away ?
What’s the world you came from ?
Does it hurt to say ?
Did you think you’d be alone, and now a cast away?
Where’s your babies now no one will say ?
When you came over

You’re so strong   You left all you’ve ever known
You’re so strong    Where do you belong ?

When you came over, did you come in a boat ?
Did you cross a desert, did you cross a moat ?
Did you cross your heart, when you came lookin for your own ?
Were you told to turn around and go back home ?
When you came over,   when you came over

Let Go

(K. Thompson)

Simple little tune about packing up and moving to somewhere new - leaving many things behind but trusting that what's to come will be even better than before

Run - like you never have before
There’s no stopping anymore - c’mon darlin’ run

Love - like you you never will again
Like we’re the only two that’s left - c’mon darlin’ love

Let Go - like a rope out on a lake
Nothing in your hands to take
Come on honey let go!

Live - like there will will be no tomorrow
There’s really nothing left to borrow - c’mon darlin’ live

Give - ‘till you’re empty ‘till you’re dry
Just can’t knock it ‘till you try - c’mon darlin’ give

Let Go - like a rope out on a lake
Nothing in your hands to take
Come on honey let go!

We’ve been holding on to nothing for so long now baby
Time to let it all go - let it al go

Run - like you never have before
There’s no stopping anymore - c’mon darlin’ run

Let Go - like a rope out on a lake
Nothing in your hands to take
Come on honey let go   -   like a rope out on a lake
Nothing in your hands to take

Come on honey let go

We Got to Move

(C. Chappell)

The Whole Band has been playing every Friday night at Blase’ Cafe' , an outdoor, under -the -stars venue for a few years.  It has been a magical love fest every single time.   This song was inspired by images of seeing our fans enjoy themselves, grooving to our music.  This one we recorded as a trio: stand up bass, two guitars and vocals

Candles burning, lights are twinkling and the moon is risin high
Band is stirring up a craving, you could help me satisfy
I know you,  you know me, so what you waiting for
Get your feet back in your shoes,  let's get out on the floor

Cause we got to move baby,  we got to move baby
I just can’t sit still
We got to move baby, we got to move baby
Check your laid back at the door, cause Honey here we go (clap clap clap)

Ooh things are grooving now, I feel the music in my bones
All shakin and a-swaying.  I aint never goin home
I like you, you like me and I sure like the way you move
I wouldn’t stop you for a nickel, ah Honey ain't that the truth

A we got to move baby,  we got to move baby
I just can’t sit still
We got to move baby, we got to move baby
Check your laid back at the door, cause Honey here we go (clap clap clap)

Hey y’all, last call, it ain’t over yet
We got the right to make tonight as good as it can get
I like you, you like me, and I sure like the way we groove
Ah here we go, we all know, what we got to do

We got to move baby,  we got to move baby
I just can’t sit still
We got to move baby, we got to move baby
Check your laid back at the door, get your feet back on the floor
Gonna shake it shake it like never before
Honey here we go……(clap clap clap)

Love to Love

(C. Chappell  K. Thompson)

The first true songwriting collaboration of Callie and Kevin .  For Whitney and Con

We go driving together to the store
We’ll drive each other crazy through the storm
We’ll marvel at our little ones - who are bigger than us now
We got some damned good times behind us
Still the tears well up inside us
We always seem to come through anyhow - you’re the the that I

Love to love - the only one one that I love to Love

We go headed for the the sunset on a cloudy night
These days we end up laughing at what used to make us fight
And Iv’e learned more from you than anyone what mercy really means
We got some crooked roads before us still the god’s , they won’t ignore us
We always seem to come through anyhow - you’re the one that I

Love to Love - the only one that I love to love

We go walking hand in hand down the dirty road
Uncertainty surrounds us our future still untold
My eyes are prone to wander
But my heart has not been hardened
We got some demons still to beat down and a tide that needs a turnaround
We always seem to come through anyhow - you’re the one that I

Love to love
The only one that I   Love to Love
Still the one that I     Love to love
The only one that I   Love to love

Tumbleweed Town

(K. Thompson)

This was written during one of the worst Red Tide events that Sarasota had ever witnessed. The streets of Siesta Key were a ghost town and there was literally no ONE on the beaches. This song imagines no end to it.

Wildfires are raging - hurricanes mapping out their wrath
You might not expect it - there’s still people in it’s path
And to think they might deserve it is a road you don’t want to go down
Everyone still gathers at the bar in this tumbleweed town

Baitballs ain’t a’churnin’ - mister pelican you barely see
The day will come when the manatee are only living in a magazine
And it might be a little too late for the lesson that’s upon now
Everyone still gathers    at the bar in this tumbleweed town

Tumbleweed Town Tumbleweed Town
Better take a good look around
Big sugar’s blowing in this tumbleweed town

Little people really don’t matter -
County’s  got it’s greedy hand out again
The bottom line’s gonna black
Yeah - they’re brewing up the red tide gin
And they don’t give a crap about it
They just keep the crap flowing down
Everyone still gathers at he bar in this tumbleweed town

 Tumbleweed Town Tumbleweed Town
Better take a good look around
Big sugar’s blowing in this tumbleweed town

So the million dollar men - they’re all headed up to DC
Yeah - they’re leaving it all behind
Just another mess for you and me
When you have all the money in the world
All you need is just little more
While the dolphin and her little cub roll lifeless on the shore…

Tumbleweed Town Tumbleweed Town
Better take a good look around
Big sugar’s blowing in this tumbleweed town
Tumbleweed Town Tumbleweed Town
Better take a good look around
Big sugar’s blowing in this tumbleweed town
Better take a good look around
Big sugar’s blowing in this tumbleweed town

And everyone still gathers
At the bar in this tumbleweed town

Heavy Load Down (K. Thompson)

Drift out - into the night
Come back-  I don’t know when
I made up my own mind
I’m gonna break my promise again
                  Break my promise again

That’s it - last time - can’t face that lying mirror again
Fall down - onto my knees
I know he’ll pick me up again
A friend in need indeed my friend

Out of the darkness - into the light
Something’s been lifting me high
The river’s running over it’s banks tonight
On the crest I’m going to ride!
Dance like there’s no one around
Sing like you want to be found
Rain comes and washes you clean
Makes you lay that heavy load down
                   Lay that heavy load down

Out of the darkness - into the light
Something’s been lifting me high
The river’s running over it’s banks tonight
On the crest I’m going to ride!
Dance like there’s no one around
Sing like you want to be found
Rain comes and washes you clean
Makes you lay that heavy load down
                   Lay that heavy load down
